MAIN ACTIVITIES
Panhard is the European leader for armoured vehicles of less than
fifteen tonnes. The company has sold no less than ten thousand vehicles
tomore than 40 countries. Thesemarket-leading products, such as the
Light Armoured Vehicle (VBL), are serving on a daily basis on operations
with the French Army, where they are used for intelligence missions,
patrolling and combat. The French Army employs over 1,600 VBL,
mostly in armoured cavalry units. In addition, 700 VBL are in service in
15 countries, mainly in the Middle East. They are also used for a wide
range of missions, often with American (TOW missiles) or Russian
systems (Kornetmissiles). The Panhard range is also complemented by
the delivery of the Small Protected Vehicle (PVP), a 4x4 tactical liaison
vehicle intended for employment in the most sensitive operations,
particularly with the ISAF in Afghanistan. The Army has ordered more
than 900 examples of this vehicle and a competition is currently taking
place in Germany for the delivery of 2,000 vehicles of this type to the
Bundeswehr.
Panhard has also developed the AVXL which, with its three tonne
payload, is able to cope with the problem of the replacement of
armoured load-carriers for the Army. Among the other products of the
company, the logistic range is also notable, with the TC10, TC24 and
TC54 trucks, capable of carrying payloads of one to five tonnes.
Panhard will experience rapid growth thanks to the dynamism of the
market inwhich the company operates: its turnover, which reached 80
million euros in 2007, is expected to exceed 100million euros this year.
This solid growth, combined with the financial soundness of the
company, will enable Panhard to maintain its leading position in the
light armoured vehicle sector in Europe and to establish itself in a
favourable position for the industrial concentration to come in land
systems armaments.
