MAIN ACTIVITIES
SILMACH is aMEMS companywhich is deeply involved in the emerging
field of silicon-based micromechanics. The company is located in
Besançon (F), the heart of Franche-Comté, a French regionwith an old
and strong tradition inwatch-making technology. SILMACH is a fabless
company which provides engineering and design services to both
institutional, such as DGA, and industrial groups of watch industry,
aeronautics, automotive and defense. The R&D staff has direct access
to clean room facilities located in Switzerland and France. SILMACH
investigates and prototypes newgenerations of products such as hightorque
MEMS micromotors ("PMS" technology) and fully autonomous
wireless mechanical sensors ("CHRONOMEMS" technology).
SILMACH engineers master a wide range of MEMS-based
micronanotechnologies at bothmicrometer and nanometer scales. The
company delivers innovative MEMS solutions from several units up to
small/ medium series. In addition to MEMS micronanotechnologies,
SILMACH engineers also master conventional machining techniques.
The company's know-how allows the development of innovative
products designed through hybridization of both conventional tool
machining and MEMS technology. The company works in partnership
with ONERA, CNRS and CEA/ LITEN - Grenoble (F) as well as with EPFL
- Lausanne and IMT-Neuchâtel (CH).
MAIN PRODUCTS
SILMACH develops innovativeMEMS technologies in the following fields :
• MEMS-based mechanical and energy-less microsensors
dedicated to health monitoring of structures
• MEMS-based micromotors dedicated to the motorization of
nomadic systems.
• MEMS-based artificial insects and bionic technologies involving
"fusion" of mechanics, electronics and energy.
