Despite a difficult economic context, Eurosatory continued to grow in 2010, boosted by the worldwide vitality of the defence and security industry. The number of exhibitors rose 10% with new countries, more component manufacturers, a high level of interest in technology clusters, and an extension of the exhibition scope into security. The number of new products or weapon systems (350) was impressive. The business side was also a success, with EDSM (European Defence & Security Meetings) making its debut alongside the very popular “Eurosatory One-to-One Business Meetings®”.
The number of visitors also increased (+2.2%), and the quality of visitors continued to improve, with 11% in the category “CEOs or general officers”. The many official delegations showed considerable independence, with some even setting up their own programme to visit the exhibition. The airland dimension was reinforced by the holding of UVS Forum and the presence of numerous helicopters, UAVs, and airborne and ground-air equipment. For the first time, live demonstrations included UAV flying displays. The exhibition opened its doors to operational medicine. A large number of conferences provided the opportunity for direct dialogue between users and industry, drawing wide attention. In response to demand, our partner IHS Jane’s had to produce a fifth edition of the Daily which reached an unprecedented level, with coverage of more than 407 exhibiting companies. The Eurosatory catalogue is becoming a benchmark in the land domain, with 25,000 copies carried away by visitors and exhibitors. But Eurosatory can still improve further.
For 2012, we will take care of the official delegations managing system and we will find solutions to simplify relations between exhibitors and the “Parc des expositions”. To maintain your contacts, we will be organising in 2011, in between two exhibition years, one-to-one business meetings for prime contractors and suppliers, as well as an edition of EDSM for those who work in the Security domain. The success of Eurosatory is your success: exhibitors, visitors and media; thank you! You are present at Eurosatory because you know that this is where Defence and Security of tomorrow are built and that is where you will meet your partners.
The Eurosatory team will continue to make every effort to offer you an exhibition that raises its performance levels ever higher and I will be happy to welcome you once again from 11 to 15 June 2012.
Sincerely yours
Général (ret) Patrick Colas des Francs
