Amphibious operations

Amphibious warfare, in fact, has always been one of the most challenging areas of military operations. This is because to be successful in an amphibious operation, the joint operational commander has to have at his disposal both a ground force fully proficient in combined arms combat but also a naval force able to conduct integrated surface, subsurface and air operations. Furthermore, those two forces have to be jointly integrated on a regular basis.

Amphibious operations include solutions to :

  • Ensure the continuity of information between sea and land
  • Ensure the movement of the forces from the sea to the objective, from the sea to the shore and across the beach
  • Train and support the joint amphibious forces
  • Prepare and shape the area of operation
